John Urban Fabian, 86, Loved and Cared for His Family

Photo of John Urban Fabian John Urban Fabian, 86, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday June 24, 2025 at Rose Senior Living in Avon after a lengthy battle with dementia.

He was born September 10, 1938 in Lorain to John “Foxy” & Helen Fabian (nee Urban) and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.

John graduated from Lorain High School 1956 B class. He married the love of his life Rosemary (nee Jasensky) on June 20, 1964 at St Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion.

He was a dedicated worker at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant for 39 years in various positions. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his co-workers over the years.

John loved and cared for his family, especially devoting himself to caring for Rosemary as she battled MS for many years.

John was very active at the former St Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain, from altar boy to serving on parish council, was president of church council, member and vice-president of the Holy Name Society and member of the Hungarian Sick Benefit Society. He was a member of UAW Local #425 in Lorain and the IAV #1 in Lorain. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, collecting and staging model trains, loved the companionship of his two special beagles, Maxine and Foxy and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Ohio State football.

He is survived by his sons: John Charles Fabian (Marybeth) of Lafayette, Indiana, Dennis A. Fabian (Heather) of Lorain and David A. Fabian (Lorena) of Avon; grandchildren: Jake, Sophie (Aaron), Julia, Nathan, Ella & Will, sisters Andrea Bond (Gene) of Drums, PA and Phyllis Fabian of Raleigh, NC, brothers-in-law Chuck Jasensky & Ray Jason (Linda Noelker) and sister-in-law Nancy Denslow (Tom). He also had a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends that he loved to spend time with. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary K. “Rosie” Fabian (nee Jasensky) in 2008, parents John “Foxy” Fabian and Helen Fabian (nee Urban) and in-laws Charlie & Marie Jasensky.

The family will receive friends Sunday June 29, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44055. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday June 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 418 W 15th St, Lorain. (please meet at the church). Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
