Peri D. Marcucci, 88, Avid Hiker

He was born September 24, 1936 in Lorain to Pierino & Rosina Marcucci (nee DiGiandeomenico).
Peri graduated from Lorain High School in 1954 and attended St Gregory Minor Seminary in Cincinnati and Ohio State University. He enlisted in the US Army serving in the 35th Engineer Combat Battalion at Ft Lewis, Washington and in France from 1961-1963.
Peri was employed at BF Goodrich Chemical Company as a laboratory development technician in Avon Lake and Brecksville for 35 years and retired in 1999.
He was a member of the Cleveland Hiking Club for 20 years and was proud to have hiked the Appalachian Trail for many miles, Glacier National Park, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Olympic National Park, Grand Canyon and Buckeye Trails. You may have seen him walking to Mill Hollow and around Amherst years ago. He had a deep interest in the Amish community and enjoyed visits there, also reading all books he could find. He was very proud of his Italian ancestry having visited Italy several times and exchanging e-mails and letters with his cousin Antonio in Pescara, where his parents had once lived in Abruzzi. He had a fine sense of humor, and even while battling Alzheimer’s, a spark and smile would appear as if to say to us I am still here. He worked hard to compile a Travee and Marcucci family history and also earned an Associate Degree in History from Lorain County Community College.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years Patricia Anne Marcucci (nee Pastor), daughter Amy Marcucci (Sandra Greig), son Christopher Marcucci; grandson Silvio Marcucci, brother Anthony Marcucci (Arlene), sister Dolores Suyeta, sister-in-law Audrey Marcucci and many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Marcucci; his parents; 2 baby brothers; his brother and sister-in-law Carl & Roberta Travee, nephew Peri Travee; sister and brother-in-law Viola & Albert Giancaterino; brother William Marcucci, nephew Curt Marcucci, brothers-in-law Dan Suyeta, Louis Pastor and James Solak and in-laws Louis and Agnes Pastor.
The family will receive friends Monday June 16, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial mass at 11:00 am at St Mary of the Woods Chapel, 35755 Detroit Rd, Avon. The family’s dear friend Rev Father Gerald J. Keller, will preside.
