Jacqueline Mantin, 82, Enjoyed Spending Time with Her Grandchildren

Photo of Jacqueline Mantin Jacqueline Mantin (nee Klekota), 82, of Lorain, died unexpectedly on Thursday May 22, 2025 in the emergency room at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center.

She was born July 18, 1942 in Lorain to Edward & Josephine Klekota (nee Schuster) and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.

Jacqueline graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1960-B.

She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain.

Throughout her career, Jackie worked at Gold Circle in the cash office, was the owner and operator of Convenient Food Mart, and worked at Lormet Credit Union, Comstar, and other financial institutions filling many roles from teller to manager.

Jackie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved attending their events. Jackie enjoyed her bowling days, traveling, and watching nature. Jackie enjoyed cooking and baking. Her famous meatballs, chicken paprikash, cabbage rolls, and meatloaf were always a fan favorite. Jackie was known for her delicious Christmas cookie platters and deliveries of her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Jackie was a devoted Cleveland sports fan. She watched the Cleveland Guardians and Browns in her Cleveland gear each season.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Edward Mantin Jr, sons: Mike (Kelly) Mantin of Amherst, Mark (Michele) Mantin of Amherst and Matthew (Maureen) Mantin of Powell; grandchildren: Tyler & Jared Mantin, Julia (Joseph) Mihalcik, Kyle, Jacob, Mylie, Mace & Marcus Mantin and sisters: Joanne Kneisel of Lorain, Janet Gillespie of Elyria and Dona Burke of White Plains, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Joyce Mason and Marilyn Weems.

The family will receive friends Friday May 30, 2025 at 11:00 am for a mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain. The Rev Craig Hovanec, pastor, will preside. Immediately following mass, the family invites friends to join them for a reception at Rosewood Place, 4493 Oberlin Ave, Lorain.
