Gail A. Sykuta, 83, Loved Cats and Dogs

Gail A. Sykuta (nee Morgan), age 83, of Lorain, passed away on Saturday May 3, 2025 at Embassy Oak Hills Nursing Center in Lorain following a period of declining health.

Gail was born in Bellevue, Ohio on September 19, 1941 and had been a longtime resident of Lorain.

She spent her entire working career as a private home health aide; she retired in 2009 after a career that spanned more than three decades in that mission.

Gail liked all small animals and found a particular place in heart for cats and dogs. She was highly skilled in the art of crocheting and also liked browsing at local garage sales when free time permitted.

She leaves a host of nieces and nephews including Michelle Tully of Massachusetts, Marshall North of Lorain, Gay Lyn Bilewicz (Dan) of Amherst, Jeff North of Lorain, Roxane Thomas of Lorain, Brenda Heller of Lorain, Tracey North of Lorain, and Kelly Parker of Lorain as well as John, David, Sheridan, and Adam. She also leaves many great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband John in 2009, parents Gussie A. and Bessie M. (nee Thompson) Morgan, brother Richard Morgan, sisters Treva Parker, Vera Bilewicz, and Linda Field, along with great niece Elaina Bilewicz.

Graveside services under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel will take place on Friday May 9, 2025 in Ridge Hill Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Danny Parsons will officiate. Those wishing to attend are requested to gather along the main entry boulevard of the memorial park at 10:15.
