Richard A. Bucsi, 81, Enjoyed Golf

Photo of Richard A. Bucsi Richard A. Bucsi, age 81, of Bay Village, and formerly of Lorain, passed away peacefully at Southwest Commons in Strongsville on the evening of Friday October 4, 2024 following a period of declining health.

He was born in Lorain on October 28, 1942 and was a graduate of Lorain High School.

Richard went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Ohio University and his Master’s Degree in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College (now Baldwin-Wallace University).

He was employed by the Cleveland Public School System where he taught physical education at the elementary school level; most recently, he had been assigned to Walton Elementary School. Richard retired following nearly four decades of service with the district.

After moving to Bay Village in 1974, he was active as a youth baseball and soccer coach in the city’s summer recreational league. Despite its challenges, Richard found relaxation in the game of golf and had recorded a hole-in-one while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Following retirement, he worked as a starter at Mastick Woods Golf Course in Cleveland.

Regardless of his other obligations, he was always able to maintain a constant presence in the lives of his grandchildren and was omnipresent as a spectator at their sporting events, especially basketball.

He is survived by his daughter Cathy Grealis (Kevin) of Columbia Station and son Ryan Bucsi (Kate Grove) of San Francisco. He also leaves grandchildren Julia Bucsi , Colin Grealis, and Emma Grealis.

Richard was preceded in death by his father William B. Bucsi in 2007, mother Julia Bucsi (nee Molnar) in 1995, and brother William G. Bucsi in 2018.

Graveside services will be conducted privately by the family in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
