Leroy J. Gall, 85, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Leroy J. Gall Leroy J. Gall, age 85, of Elyria, passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Elyria on the evening of Wednesday October 2, 2024 while under the care of Crossroads Hospice.

He was born in Cleveland on June 13, 1939 and had been a long-time resident of both Lorain and Elyria.

Leroy was a veteran of the United States Navy where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Fireman Second Class aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga (CV A60) from 1958 to 1962; he was a member of Amvets Post # 32 in Elyria.

He had been employed as a chemical operator for the B.F. Goodrich Corporation, and its successor, Geon in Avon Lake for twenty-seven years. Leroy retired from the manufacturer in 1995.

A parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria, he found relaxation in watching movies on the TMC Channel as well as testing his skill and luck on his handheld electronic poker game. Undoubtedly, his favorite moments were those he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Adele M. Gall (nee Scoffil), and children Laura J. Gall (Bob Simpson) of Lorain, Chris Gall (Adalia) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lisa Lumpkin (Bobby) of North Ridgeville. Additional survivors include grandchildren Neil and Nicole Simpson, Maria and Rachel Gall along with great grandchildren Bencio and Adelemina Heath and Gionna Shoupe. He also leaves his brother Larry Gall (Mary Lou) and many nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his father Michael Gall, mother Helen B. Gall (nee Fedor), sister Judy Pritchett, and brothers Mike, Allan, and Dale Gall.

Visitation will be Monday October 7th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Joseph Scalco, Pastor of St. Jude Catholic Church presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Amvets Post # 32 of Elyria.
