Barbara A. Buchanan, Ph.D., 80, Accomplished Cook

Photo of Barbara A. Buchanan, Ph.D. Barbara A. Buchanan, Ph.D., (nee Vaughn) age 80, of Tallmadge, passed away on the afternoon of Monday September 23rd, 2024 following a period of declining health.

Born in Lorain, Barbara was a 1962 graduate of Brookside High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She then enrolled at Ohio University in Athens where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She continued on her road to higher learning at Penn State University where she received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology degree.

Barbara had been employed as a clinical psychologist by a variety of organizations prior to establishing her own private practice.

She was an accomplished cook who enjoyed presenting and sharing all forms of international cuisine, and especially soups, at dinner parties she hosted for family and friends. A lover of dogs and cats, Barbara found relaxation in crocheting as well as reading books and watching movies relating to science fiction.

She is survived by her daughter Katrina Morgan of Genoa, as well as grandchildren Cody Tucker, Ty Tucker, Matthew Morgan, and one soon-to arrive great grandchild. Additional survivors include her sisters Jean Daniels (Dennis) of Lake City, Michigan, Kathleen Engler of North Olmsted, brother William Tillack of Genoa and nephews Jeffrey Daniels and Sean Engler.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father John Vaughn, mother Grace K. Tillack (nee Dispenza), step-father William Tillack, and step-mother Martha Vaughn.

Arrangements for a celebration of Barbara’s life will be announced to family members later.
