Rose Mihok Bendik, 101, Loved to Cook and Bake

Photo of Rose Mihok Bendik Rose Mihok Bendik (nee Evans) went to her heavenly home on the evening of Saturday, September 21st at the age of 101.

She was born October 20, 1922 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from David B. Oliver High School as a member of the Class of 1941. Rose moved to Lorain in 1946.

She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church serving as church secretary for many years as well as teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School. She also served as President of the Ruth Naomi Ladies and worked for the Lorain County Board of Elections as a voting booth worker at Whittier Junior High for twenty-five years.

Rose loved to cook and bake, sharing many of her favorite recipes with family and friends. She enjoyed polka dancing, reading, card playing and word searches. Watching the Cleveland Browns, Guardians and Cavs were favorite past times of hers. She also attended many of her grandchildren’s baseball and soccer games and loved being with her family.

Survivors include sons Stephen G. Mihok (Judy) of Littleton, Colorado and Robert Mihok (Holly) of Amherst, Ohio. She also leaves grandchildren Stephen Mihok IV (Irrit) of Littleton, Colorado, Brian Mihok of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Megan Pasternak (Cory) of Avon, Ohio and Robert Mihok Jr. of Amherst, Ohio. Additional survivors include great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Owen, Evelyn, Parker and Peyton, and step-children Elaine Heys (Tom)of Grove City, Ohio, Sandy Kelser of Deatsville, Alabama, Jerry Bendik Jr. (Pat) of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and Andrew Bendik (Kellie) of Elyria, Ohio. She also leaves many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her first husband Steve Mihok Jr., second husband Jerry Bendik, parents John and Susan (nee Shupala) Evans, brothers, John, Michael Andrew, and Edward along with sister Susan Grant.

Friends may call in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel (3224 Broadway, Lorain) on Friday, September 27 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will take place on Saturday in Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church – 1500 Lincoln Boulevard, Sheffield Township, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Edgar A. Anthony, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages contributions in her memory to Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church – 1500 Lincoln Boulevard, Lorain, OH 44055..
