Judith A. Mroski, 73, Avid Reader

Photo of Judith A. Mroski Judith A. “Jodi” Mroski, (nee Sabo) age 73, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully at her residence on the evening of Tuesday October 3, 2023 following a brief illness.

Jodi was born in Lorain on March 10, 1950 and was a graduate of Admiral King High School as a member of the Class of 1968. She had recently moved to Vermilion from Sheffield Lake.

Jodi began her working career as a customer care specialist at the K-Mart store located on Fairless Drive in south Lorain. Upon the store’s closing, she transitioned into a managerial role at the Builder’s Square store which was located adjacently. She later served in an administrative capacity for several Cleveland-based companies prior to joining Kohl’s Department Store in Lighthouse Village where she worked in the receiving department.

She attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lorain. In her free time, Jodi enjoyed the challenges of crossword puzzles and was also an avid reader with a special fondness for the works of Danielle Steele and Stephen King.

She is survived by her husband Ronald A. Mroski, son Brett Gentkowski (Eliza) of Dublin, Ohio and granddaughter Hope Gentkowski residing in Delaware, Ohio. Additional survivors include her sister Donna (Mick) Mackert of Oberlin, niece Barbie Hanigoski of Avon Lake, and best friend Jennifer Phelps of Sheffield Village.

Jodi was preceded in death by her first husband Buddy Gentkowski who was killed in action serving with the United States Army in Vietnam, by her parents Benjamin and Katherine (nee Matos) Sabo, and sister Patricia Inman.

A celebration of Jodi’s life will take place at a later date. Contributions in her memory are encouraged to the American Cancer Society.
