Carol Ann Simko, 72, Favorite Time Was Spent Enjoying Her Extended Family

She was born in Lorain on July 28, 1950 to Robert S. and Eleanor (nee Flaczynski) Romes. She married the love of her life, Larry Simko, on August 7, 1971. A graduate of Admiral King High School, Carol lived much of her life in Lorain prior to moving to Sheffield Township four decades ago.
Although she did not have any children of her own, Carol served as the loving, devoted, and generous aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.
She had most recently been employed as a production assistant for the Invacare Corporation in Elyria. She had previously worked in a similar capacity at the Worthington Ball Company and the Fisher Guide Division of General Motors.
A parishioner of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain, Carol enjoyed baking and was well known for her pineapple pie and epic pitzels. Her favorite time was spent enjoying her extended family.
She is survived by her mother Eleanor Romes, sister Barbara Grasso, and brothers Richard Romes, Robert Romes (Cheryl), and Dave Romes (Ginger) as well as sister-in-law Debby Romes Additional survivors include six nieces, one nephew, seven great nieces, and two great nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Larry in 1997, and by her father Robert S. Romes.
Visitation will be in Nativity BVM Catholic Church 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain on Monday June 26th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Gerald J. Keller, Pastor Emeritus of St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Berea will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
