Jeanette L. Wnek, 91, Dedicated to Caring for her Husband and Family

Photo of Jeanette L. Wnek Jeanette L. Wnek, (nee Gorski), age 91, of Lorain, passed away on the evening of Friday September 16, 2016 at Denise’s Adult Care following an extended illness.

She left this Earth as calmly and peacefully as she lived her life. Born in Lorain on December 27, 1924, she remained a life-long resident of the city.

During the war effort, Jeanette was employed by the General Industries Corporation of Elyria. She later served as the manager of the fish fries served by the Polish-American Citizens Club in Lorain.

Mrs. Wnek was a life-long parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church until the time of its closing; most recently she was attending St. Peter Parish in Lorain.

Jeanette’s life was dedicated to her caring for her husband and family. Suitable adjectives to describe her would include selfless, nurturing, compassionate, and loving. She never missed an opportunity for a family visit and loved hosting get-togethers and holidays. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the heavenly scent of home-cooked meals and other “goodies”.

She was an avid collector of dolls and loved doing creative craft and ceramic projects with her children and grandchildren. Jeanette also enjoyed flowers and displayed a flair for creating her own floral arrangements.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Luby (John) of Willard and son Dale Wnek of Amherst. She also leaves grandchildren Edward Luby (Susan) of Lancaster, Danielle Gulden (David) of Columbus, Dale Wnek, II (Wendy) of Amherst and Shawn Wnek (Jackie) of Maumelle, Arkansas. Additional survivors include great grandchildren Grant Luby, Erin Luby, Lauren Gulden, Julianne Wnek, Caitlin Wnek, Kennedy, and Korrina, as well as sisters Dorothy Jalowiec of Lorain, and Sandra Rich (John) of Avon, and brothers Richard Gorski (Donna) of Amherst and John Gorski (Carole) of Put-In-Bay.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years Edward J. Wnek in 2011, and by her parents John and Josephine (nee Olesinski) Gorski.

The Wnek Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at both Denise’s Adult Care and New Life Hospice for the loving care and compassion that they displayed during Jeanette’s final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for the family in St. Peter Parish on Wednesday September 21sth. Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish presided. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.
