Edward J. Bagola, 79, U.S. Army Veteran
Edward J. Eddie Bagola, 79, of Lorain, died Sunday August 28, 2016 at Rae-Ann Suburban in Westlake after a long illness.He was born March 30, 1937 in Buffalo, New York and resided in Lorain most of his life.
Eddie graduated from Lorain High School and Lorain County Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in Psychology. He served with the US Army during the Korean War.
Eddie worked at American Crucible in Lorain as a machinist retiring after 30 years.
He was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain. He enjoyed running and participated in the Cleveland Marathon. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Alice Bagola (nee Hodkey); children: Paul Bagola, Gregory Bagola and Debra Boyd, all of Lorain; grandchildren: Jason, Christopher, Zachary and Christie; 5 great grandchildren; sister Jean Hren (Tony) of Bedford Heights and brother Frank Bagola (Shirley) of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his grandson Johnny Fox and parents Frank and Anna Bagola (nee Rucek).
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 31st from 4:00 8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing will be Thursday September 1st from 10:30 am until 11:00 am at St. Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am in the church with the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, presiding. Military honors will be conducted immediately following mass outside the church by the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter#20 of Lorain. Cremation will follow.
