Donald C. Kanavel, 69, U.S. Army Veteran
Donald C. Kanavel, 69, of Lorain passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a long illness, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Kanavel was born in Cleveland on August 28, 1946, the son of the late Walter and Wanda (nee Kolbe) Kanavel. He was a graduate of Brookside High School in the class of 1965. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and attended the Broadway Assembly of God Church in Lorain.
He was a retail butcher by profession. He enjoyed watching sports and muscle cars. The most enjoyable times in his life was spent with his loving family.
Mr. Kanavel is survived by his wife, Marsha J. (nee Vanover) Kanavel, daughters Laura E. (Kevin) Bricker of Huron, Jennifer (Mark) Murray of Oberlin, Susan A Kanavel of Lorain, April L Vanover of Elyria, three sons Sean M. (Marsha) Kanavel of Lorain, Christopher (Princess) Kanavel of Grafton, Donald D Kanavel of Lorain, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is peceded in death by a brother Kenneth R. Kanavel.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until services at 8 p.m.. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052. The Rev. Matt Jones, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date.
