Judy LeMasters, 73, Will be Dearly Missed

Photo of Judy LeMasters Judy LeMasters (née Bryan), 73, of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at New Life Hospice Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 21, 1943 in Cleveland. She lived in Lorain until moving to Vermilion in 1994. Judy graduated from Lorain High School in January of 1961. Judy worked for Louis Coen men’s stores as a bookkeeper and was the manager of Family Video in Lorain.

Judy volunteered at Lakeview Grade School in the nutritional program. She never missed helping with her children’s school fieldtrips. She was a life member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 30 of Lorain, AMVETS Post 22 Auxiliary and VFW 7576 both in Vermilion.

Judy's generosity of spirit was best exemplified by her work with her daughter's scouting troops. She served as leader of Brownie troop 548, and then Girl Scout troop 256 for over twelve years, guiding a group of girls from first grade through their graduation from high school. Judy was a wonderful role model, displaying her many skills and talents, her knack for efficient planning and organization and her zest for living. She nurtured and encouraged the girls' growth exposing them to a wide diversity of activities through the years. They learned honesty, respect, responsibility, cooperation, integrity and the importance of community service. They also had a tremendous amount of fun and so did Judy. Through the scouts, Judy actually parented many, many daughters in addition to her own.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 43 years Ray LeMasters of Vermilion; daughter Heidi (Dr. Steven) Wallace of Jonesborough, Tennessee; sons Dan (Lolli) Olsen of Elyria and David Olsen of Ashtabula; sister Dr. Denise Signs-Pizzuti of Wooster; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Chalmers and Cora Bryan, her birth mother Selma Naylor and her brother Robert Bryan.

Her family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. A Celebration of Judy’s life will be Thursday Morning at 10 AM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, it was Judy's wish that contributions be made to Shriner's Hospital For Children www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org
or St. Jude's Children's Hospital www.stjude.org.
