Joan Marie Burton, 61, Enjoyed Arts and Crafts

Joan Marie Burton, 61, of Oberlin passed away peacefully Sunday June 19, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

She was born August 5, 1954 in Lorain to Raymond E. & Helen Burton (nee Feeley).

Joan was employed by Murray Ridge Production Center in Oberlin. She enjoyed the work she did, her many friends there and the variety of social activities provided. She was active in the Special Olympics winning a silver medal in Bocce this past May. Joan was also Vice President of the resident council at LMHA John Frederick Oberlin Home.

Her hobbies and interests included arts and crafts, bingo, watching movies, playing games on her tablet and participating in programs at Splash Zone. She enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland sports teams and holidays, especially St Patrick’s Day.

She is survived by her brothers Robert Burton (Harriet) of Newburgh, New York, Timothy Burton (Carol) of Lorain and Raymond P. Burton of Cleveland; nieces and nephews Matthew, Michelle, Shawn (Brenda), Erin & Colleen. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends Thursday June 23, 2016 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel. 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Tony DeGracia, deacon of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
