Gerald P. Gaydosh, 79, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of Gerald P. Gaydosh Gerald P. Gaydosh, 79, of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Lake Pointe Health Care In Lorain following a long illness.

Mr. Gaydosh was born in Lorain on November 2, 1936, the son of the late Stephen A. and Ann (nee Demyan). A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from St. Mary High School in 1954. He then enrolled in the R.O.T.C. program and graduated from John Carroll University in 1958 and entered the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He was a member of Church of St. Peter.

Immediately following his military service, he taught school at Harrison School. He retired from US Steel after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Slovak Club.

Mr. Gaydosh enjoyed playing cards with family and friends but also enjoyed long walks his dogs.

He is survived by his son Matthew Gaydosh of Lorain, granddaughter Ashley Gaydosh, sisters, Marilyn (Ronald) Yarsa, of Lorain, Eileen (Thomas) Niemiec of North Ridgeville, brother Stephen W Gaydosh of Amherst and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen J. (nee Weitzel) Gaydosh on April 15, 2016 and a son Jerry Gaydosh in 2012.

Friends may call on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Funeral services will begin on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. with prayers in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave. Lorain, with Rev. Craig Hovanec as celebrant.

Burial, with full military honors, will be later in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
