Charles A. Parsons, 93, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Charles A. "Alan" Parsons, 93, of Lorain passed away, peacefully, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Mercy-New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.

Mr. Parsons was born in Chester, WVA on May 5, 1923, the son of the late William T. and Ada B. (nee Bonar) Parsons. He graduated from Chester High School in Chester, WV and University of Pittsburgh with a degree in psychology. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during WW II.

He was a very active and longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as head Usher for 30 plus years, Church Council, Building Committee for the Educational Wing, Organ Committee and Worship Committee and Music Committee.

Mr. Parsons was employed in the accounts payable department of the Lake Erie Electric in Lorain, prior to the company move into Westlake. He had also worked at U S Steel and Thew Shovel.

He enjoyed classical music and cars.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jacqueline A (nee Couch) Parsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4-6 pm. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio, 44052.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Church of the Redeemer, 647 Reid Ave., Lorain, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the New Building Fund, First Lutheran Evangelical Church, c/o 423 Washington Ave., Lorain, 55052.
