Delpha J. Penzes Pepke, 74, Avid Baseball Fan

Photo of Delpha J. Penzes Pepke Delpha J. “Del” Penzes Pepke (nee Sherk), 74, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, died Saturday May 21, 2016 at her home after a short illness.

She was born April 17, 1942 in Toledo and had resided in the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, New Mexico area over 33 years moving from Elyria.

Del graduated from Lakewood High School and worked for Don Products in Westlake. After moving to New Mexico, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau retiring in 2013.

Del was an avid baseball fan and her favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians and St. Louis Cardinals. She traced her genealogy and compiled an extensive family history. She enjoyed casino gambling and collecting books.

She is survived by her children Laurie (Allen) Grobe (nee Penzes) of Elyria and Scott Penzes of Florence, Kentucky; grandchildren Brett and Keith Grobe; brother John (Linda) Sherk of California and ex-husband Al Penzes of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Allen Penzes and parents John W. & Helen Rachel Sherk (nee Vine).

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 16th at 7:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., Elyria. The Rev. W. Kent Joy, pastor, will preside. Private family burial of her ashes will be held at North Murray Ridge Road Cemetery in Elyria Township.
