Patricia A. Hanko, 86, Enjoyed Baking and Gardening

She was born January 12, 1930 in Cleveland and had been a lifelong area resident.
In 1964, Pat and her husband Andy purchased the Gin Mill Tavern in Elyria Township and renamed it Hanko’s Gin Mill. Pat worked as a cook, server, bartender and bookkeeper at the restaurant until her retirement. Prior to that, she was the steward at St. Lad’s Club in Lorain from 1959-1963 and worked as a waitress at Heilman’s Restaurant in Lorain.
Pat and Andy were married at the former Ss Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain. She was a member of the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Avon. She enjoyed baking, gardening and traveling to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. In 2008, Pat was named Mother-of-the-Year at the Elks Lodge # 465 in Elyria.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Andrew Hanko, Sr; children: Andrew Hanko Jr (Barbra), Anne Marie Luczkowski (Frank), Paulette Resar (Ted), Bert Hanko (Deborah) and Joseph Hanko (Christine); grandchildren: Amanda Hanko-Wilt (Jeremy), Erica Hanko, Jaclyn Boyle, Teresa Moore (Kevin), Sarah Stone (Michael), Kimberly Hanko-Dale (Jonathon), Patrick Hammonds, Nicholas Hanko (Brandy) & Calvin Lee (Tara); great grandchildren: Kasey Moore, Cameron Moore, Jase Wilt & Hailey Hanko and numerous stepgrandchildren & step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Reising (nee Justin) and 10 siblings.
The family will receive friends Monday March 28th from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing will be held Tuesday March 29th from 9:30 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd, Avon. The mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday March 29th at 10:00 am in the church. The Rev. James Schmitz, pastor of St. Leo the Great Parish in Cleveland, and the Rev. C Thomas Cleaton, pastor of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
