Laura Anne Marcucci, 48, Will Be Dearly Missed

Laura Anne Marcucci, age 48, passed away on the evening of Wednesday March 23, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by her loving family.

Laura was born in Lorain, Ohio on December 7, 1967, dearest daughter of Peri and Patricia (nee Pastor) Marcucci.

Laura was born with a congenital heart condition which forced her to endure two open heart surgeries, two closed heart surgeries, and numerous cardiac catherizations beginning as a small child. She also developed diabetes in high school and faced it all with strength and courage.

Laura graduated from Amherst Marion L. Steele High School in 1986 and Kent State University in 1990 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business-Marketing. She enjoyed her Kent State experience and serving on the committee that presented musical entertainment acts on campus. Later, she worked as co-manager of Kamm’s Record Store in Amherst.

Laura liked walking in the Black River Reservation during the early morning hours to see deer at the creek, small animals waking to a new day, and the many friendly walkers she met who shared the trail. She was happy walking on the beach in Hilton Head searching for sea shells, and also experienced a special peace planting flowers in her yard.

Laura was very proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed visiting Italain summer festivals for calamari. She liked heavy metal music, drives in her car, and Kiedrowski's rose paczki.

Her family will miss her feisty nature, her independent spirit, and her special sense of humor. They will also miss her kindness, thoughtfulness, and her remembering family and friends with birthday and holiday cards and gifts to show her love.

She is survived by her loving parents Peri and Pat, her loving sister Amy Marcucci (wife Sandy Greig), loving brother Christopher, cherished nephew Silvio, dear godparents Lois and Ronald Protz, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Laura was preceded in death by her fiancé Ralph Stafford, III, paternal grandparents Pierino and Rosina (nee DiGiandomenico) Marcucci, maternal grandparents Louis and Agnes (nee Roback) Pastor, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain on Friday April 1st from 4:00 p.m. until the time of memorial services at 7:00 p.m. Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish will officiate.

Per Laura’s wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will occur later.
