Irene Palka, 93, Enjoyed Gardening and Crafts

She is now reunited with her beloved husband Steve.

She was born January 2, 1923 in Lorain and had resided in Sheffield Lake for over 10 years.

Irene worked at Thew Shovel in Lorain in the payroll department and was one of the first female computer operators in the company before retiring after over 25 years.

She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed gardening and crafts.

She is survived by her nephew Mark Benko Sr (Mary Ellen) of Lorain, nieces Marsha Anders (Frank) of Mt Dora, Florida and Marie Drenkhan (Dennis) of Kissimmee, Florida; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Steve W. Palka in 2008, parents Frank and Johanna Orosz (nee Rada), 3 brothers, 6 sisters and nephew Robert Benko Jr.

Private family services will be held at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
