Maria Iwanek, 96, Enjoyed Gardening and Crocheting

She was born August 14, 1919 in Bogumilowice, Poland and had resided in Lorain since 1949 moving from Poland.
Maria was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and the United Polish Club, all in Lorain.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crafts and playing cards.
She is survived by her children Lottie Gurnack of Lorain, George Iwanek (Beverly) of South Amherst, Helen Kritz (Charles) of Lorain and Stanley Iwanek of Naples, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sister Stasha Lesiak and brother Stanley Solak, both of Poland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Antoni Iwanek in 1994, parents Woejich & Stefania Solak (nee Judosz); granddaughters Susan Iwanek and Shelly Iwanek and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends Tuesday March 15th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W 15th St, Lorain. The Nativity Altar & Rosary Society will pray the Rosary Tuesday at 10:30 am and the mass of Christian Burial will begin Tuesday at 11:00 am. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
The family would like to thank the staff of New Life Hospice, especially Cindy, Davania and Vickie, for the excellent care they provided to Maria.
