Mary C. Martinez, 94, Enjoyed Flower Gardening and Dancing

Mary was born in Star Junction, Pennsylvania on November 2, 1921 and had been a resident of Lorain since childhood.
A 1939 graduate of Lorain High School, she had been employed as a laundry aid at the former St. Joseph Hospital. Previously, she had worked as a waitress for a variety of Lorain eateries including Ben Hart’s Restaurant and The Castle.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Chapel; in her free time she enjoyed flower gardening and dancing.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Brown of Lorain, by her son Manuel Marty (Kathy) Martinez of Elyria, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She also leaves brothers Carl (Carmen) Ragnoni of Lorain and Reverend James Ragnoni of Akron.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Vincenzo and Angeline (nee Pompei) Ragnoni, by her sister Ann Thompson, brothers Edward, Victor, Armand, John, and Vincenzo (in infancy) and by her former husband Manuel Martinez.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Chapel 4301 Pearl Avenue with the Reverend William Thaden and Reverend James Ragnoni concelebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
