Josephine E. Kaya, 92, Enjoyed Needlepoint, Crafts and Reading

Photo of Josephine E. Kaya Josephine E. Kaya (nee DiLuciano), 92, of Lorain, died Wednesday February 17, 2016 at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion while surrounded by her family.

She was born April 4, 1923 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, had resided in Lorain most of her life and graduated from Lorain High School.

Josephine enjoyed needlepoint, crafts, reading, being outdoors, camping and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and school concerts. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and took pride in her Italian cooking.

She is survived by her children: Donna Busch of Vermilion, JoAnn Gerace (David) of Louisville, Kentucky, John Kaya (Georgia) of Huntington Township, Doug Kaya (Connie) of Henrietta Township, Andrew Kaya, Jr (Debra) of Lorain and Jeff Kaya (Denise) of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and sister Nina Palagyi (John) of New Russia Township. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Andrew M. Kaya in 2013, parents Dominic & Dominica DiLuciano (nee Saccomandi) and several sisters and brothers.

The family will receive friends Saturday Feb. 20th from 9:30 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Ron Brickner, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, will preside. Entombment will follow in the Freedom Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
