Sharon L. Duffy, 64, Loved Spoiling Her Grandchildren

Photo of Sharon L. Duffy Sharon L. Duffy, 64, (nee Beck) passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Ames Hospice House in Westlake, after fighting a long hard battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Ms. Duffy was born in Youngstown on July 18, 1951, the daughter of the late Walter and Rebecca (nee Mirkin) Beck. She was a graduate of Rayen High School in Youngstown in 1969. She received a bachelor of Science degree from Youngstown State University. She continued her education by attending the Akron City Hospital School of Medical Technology attaining certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology in Medical Technology in 1973, specializing in Blood Banking.

She was employed as a blood bank supervisor at Hillcrest Hospital Mayfield Heights. She also worked at the Red Cross from 1973 to 1986, at Mt. Sinai Hospital from 1986-1996, sold real estate, and worked at Allen Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Duffy was a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the American Association of Blood Banks. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She loved being active; horse back riding, reading, knitting, crocheting, gardening, swimming, and doing DIY home improvement projects. The real love of her life was the job she took most seriously-----spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by the daughters that she adored, Kathryn L Duffy, Shaina A (Adrian Vazzano) Duffy of Lorain, Christen M Duffy of Amherst, her beloved precious grandchildren, Anthony Walker, Jr, Cameron Garcia, Andrew Walker and Natalia Walker.

Friends may call on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 9-11 am in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer and Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th. Street. Funeral services at the funeral home will begin at 11:00 am with Mr. Marc Jaffe, Agudath B'nai Israel Temple, officiating.

Burial at the Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown will be private.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502 in Sharon's memory.
