Theresa D. Pasternak, 91, Loved to Travel

Theresa D. Pasternak (nee Tokarczyk), 91, of Lorain, died Monday February 8, 2016 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.

She was born December 31, 1924 in Lorain and was a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Theresa had worked in Lorain at Kutza Pharmacy, Manhattan Meat Market and US Steel as a janitor.

She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Altar & Rosary Society. She loved her church and loved to travel. She and her husband John went on several cruises together and managed the Record Motel in Kissimmee, Florida during the winter months. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and getting to see them grow.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Standen of Amherst, grandchildren Justin Standen (Alyson) of Wellington, Melisa Janosik (Mike) of Vermilion and Aaron Standen of Louisville, Kentucky; great grandchildren Cole, Taylor, Madison, Jordan, McKenzie, Mikey and Tristan and sister Elizabeth “Helen” Pasternak of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years John Pasternak in 1990, parents Jozef and Anna Tokarczyk (nee Jakubowski); brothers Frank, Joseph, Stanley and Ted Tokarczyk and sisters Josephine Keller and Mary Walczak.

The family will receive friends Friday February 12th from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where the Nativity Altar & Rosary Society will recite the Rosary Prayer Friday at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 13th at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 415 W. 15th St, Lorain. Theresa’s nephew, the Rev. Gerald J. Keller and the Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity BVM Catholic Church, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
