Josephine M. Babcock, 90, Dedicated to Spending Time with Her Grandchildren

Photo of Josephine M. Babcock Josephine M. “Jo” Babcock, (nee Yurkovic), age 90, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy Regional Medical Center on the morning of Thursday February 4, 2016 following a brief illness.

Jo was born in Lorain on February 6, 1925 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

A graduate of Lorain High School, she was a long-time parishioner of St. Peter Parish. Dedicated to spending time with her grandchildren, Jo also enjoyed tole painting, working with ceramics, and reading in her free time.

Survivors include her son Clifford G. “Gregg” Babcock, Esq. (wife Monica) of Avon Lake, and daughter Jacci Schueller (husband Jack) residing in Lorain. She also leaves her grandson Aaron Babcock of Athens, Ohio, granddaughter Kaitlin Schueller of Lorain, and great granddaughter Madison.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Clifford G. Babcock in 2000, by her parents Steve and Mary (nee Matejovic) Yurkovic, and by her sister Ann Sullivan in 2014.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in St Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
