Michael J. Paytosh, 50, Loved Spending Time With Family

Photo of Michael J. Paytosh Michael J. Paytosh, 50, of Vermilion, died Sunday January 31, 2016 at his home after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer.

He was born November 27, 1965 in Lorain and had resided in Vermilion for the past 6 years moving from Lorain.

Michael graduated from Admiral King High School in 1984 and attended Lorain County JVS where he received certification as a welder. He also graduated from the State Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus.

He served as a State Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol out of the Milan Patrol Post from 1991-2006. From 2006-2011, he worked as a corrections officer for the city of Elyria Police Department. Over the past 4 years, he worked at US Steel in Lorain.

Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and going to the lake to watch the sun set. He loved his fish tank, loved to work on his 1964 Chevy Nova and visit Amish Country and Olglebay Resort. He was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Tracy Paytosh, sons Michael J. Paytosh, Jr and Robert J. Paytosh, both at home, sister Sandi Paytosh (fiancé Dwayne Ziegman) of Lorain and John Paytosh (Yvonne) of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents James M. & Mildred Paytosh (nee Svorec).

The family will receive friends Thursday February 4th from 2-4; 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday February 5th at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Gerald J. Keller will officiate. Cremation will follow.
