David Edward Gehr, 67, Loving Father Figure by Family & Friends

He is regarded by his younger siblings as a father figure, as he was to many people, including the friends of his children and coworkers later on in life.
He was in the Navy as a young man. Once he completed his military service, he began working for the telephone company and eventually ended up an executive for Nortel until retirement, when he worked for the Census and became entrenched in community service and worked on many community projects. He is regarded as passionate as well as compassionate, friendly, cheerful, dedicated, and gentlemanly by many.
Unfortunately, what became the final 15 years of his life he wielded a mighty sword to fight cancer, which was the ultimate cause of his passing. He was always upbeat even until the end, saying Nobody really dies. He is survived by all of his siblings, his wife, Dori, and two children: Jason and Leah, and four grandchildren.
His Celebration of Life will be held on June 13 2015 at 2pm at the Lake Kiowa Lodge, 905 Kiowa Drive W, Lake Kiowa, TX 75240.
