Maryann Vinovich , 87, Enjoyed solving word puzzles and playing word games

Born in Lorain on December 6, 1927, she was a 1941 graduate of St. Stanislaus Parish School and a 1945-B graduate of Lorain High School.
Maryann had been employed as a teller for the Central Security Bank and its successor, PNC Bank, for more than fifteen years. She had previously been employed by the American Stove Works.
Mrs. Vinovich was a parishioner of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain where she had served as the church organist for forty-eight years. She was also an active member of the Altar & Rosary Society there.
In her free time she enjoyed solving word puzzles and playing word games. Additional interests included knitting, crocheting, and bicycling.
Survivors include daughters Christine Worthington (Duane) of Baytown, Texas, along with Bobbie Beyerlein (David) and Susan Thibaudeau (Marc) both of Saginaw, Michigan.
She also leaves seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her sister Barbara Mettler residing in Elyria.
Maryann was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2001, by her parents Michael and Mary (nee Kulas) Kocak, by her brother John Kocak, and by sisters Germaine Zaborniak, Helen Sis Olejko, and Kathleen Kocak in infancy.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain; Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish will serve as the main celebrant with Reverend George A. Vrabel, pastor of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville as concelebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family encourages memorial contributions to either The American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
