Ralph G. McNary, 93, World War II Navy Veteran

Ralph G. (Mac) McNary, age 93 of Lorain, died Saturday December 12, 2015 at St. Mary of the Woods after a month long illness. He was born September 19, 1922, in Lorain, and remained a lifelong resident.

Mac joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. in Idaho at age 17. He is a WW2 Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Saugatuck, USS Los Angeles, and the USS Duluth. His awarded medals include the Asiatic-Pacific with 8 Stars, American Area, Philippine Liberation, Good Conduct, China Service, Navy Occupation, and World War II Victory Medals.

Mac retired from the Ford Motor Co. in 1985 after 26 years. Prior to that he worked at the American Ship Building Co. for 6 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Maryann (nee Huhra), a son Norm (Joan) McNary of Lorain, grandchildren David Michael McNary of Huron, and Kristy Jensen of Milan, along with 3 great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Allie McNary, a son David Paul McNary in 2010, brothers Clarence and Earl McNary, sisters Irene Denman, Vera St. Aubin, and Mildred Krok.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday December 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
