Joseph J. Kish, 83, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Photo of Joseph J. Kish Joseph J. “Rope” Kish, Jr, 83, of Lorain, died Saturday December 5, 2015 at his home while under the care of Stein Hospice.

He was born October 18, 1932 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1950 and then served in the US Air Force as an A3C during the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Joseph worked at US Steel in Lorain as a Millwright and Pipe Fitter in the Coke Plant and Pipe Shop retiring in 1987 after 42 years.

In his younger years, he was active in many sports playing softball, bowling and golfing in numerous Lorain area leagues. He enjoyed going to JR Foods in Lorain to play the Ohio Lottery and meeting up with his breakfast club group. He enjoyed going to casinos and was a member of the Croatian Club, Romanian Club, St. Lads Club and the Hungarian Young Men’s Club.

He is survived by his children Tanya M. Harrell of Sheffield Lake, Stacy Kish of Cleveland, Troy Kish of Lorain and Joel Kish of Trumbull County; 6 grandchildren and brother Thomas Kish of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Jean Marie Kish (nee Vincek) on November 1, 2015, son Robb Vincent Kish in August of 2015 and parents Joseph J. Kish, Sr and Susan D. Kish (nee Dzoba).

The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-5 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Cremation will follow and the ashes will be buried at a later date at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
