Mary Chymycz, 92, Family Was Everything to Her

She was born June 23, 1923 in Prussy Sambor, Ukraine. She immigrated to the United States in 1950 from Germany with her husband Eugene.

When Mary arrived she worked at several farms, cleaned homes, and was a nanny. As she learned the English language, Mary became employed as a sales clerk at Fashion Barn where many enjoyed her fashion sense. She also worked at Cooks Department Store also in Lorain.

Mary was an active member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Church, Lorain. Her family was everything to her.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Louisa (Wally) Szewczuk, Rose Marie (Greg) Pounders, and Annie (Tim) Kasperovich. Grandchildren: Terra Dahlhausen, Erik Leith, Holly Pounders, Melanie (Mike) Bobola, Zachary, Natalie and Noah Kasperovich, great grandchildren Lailah Carrion, Erik Walter Leith, Colten Bobola and goddaughter Tabitha Leith.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene Chymycz in 1987 and grandson Gregory Pounders in 1975.

The Very Rev. Canon Steven M. Paliwoda, pastor of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Church officiated a private ceremony and burial in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
