Margaret Simmons, 85, Loved Cooking and Baking

Margaret “Marge” Simmons (nee Sas), 85, of Lorain, died Monday October 19, 2015 at her home after a lengthy illness and while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice.

Marge was born on June 30, 1930 in Lorain, the first of her siblings born in the United States, to George and Mary Sas (nee Blasko).

Along with her husband Henry, she owned and operated several Lawson’s Convenience Stores in the Lorain area. Later, she worked at Hills Department Store on Grove Avenue in Lorain until her retirement.

Her first love was cooking and baking and she enjoyed playing board games with her family, crossword puzzles and crocheting. She was a member of the former St. John Catholic Church in Lorain.

She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Cacchione (Tony) of Amherst, Karen Bucci (Jack) of Xenia and Kelly Price of Lorain, son Henry W. Simmons Jr of Lorain, 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry W. Simmons Sr in 1994, parents George & Mary Sas (nee Blasko), sisters Anna Zanic, Mary Pernisky, Kate Pruchnicki and Agnes Gawlik and brothers John, George, Robert & Frank Sas.

The family will receive friends Thursday 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at Noon at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
