Julian R. Flores, 87, Loved to Tell Jokes and Make People Laugh

He was born February 16, 1928 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain on April 5th 1952. He went to work for Nickle Plate Railroad and retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad in 1988. In Caguas, Julian worked on his father’s farm.
Julian was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain and with fellow parishioners made the Cursillo 58. He was also a member of Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and The Puerto Rican Home, Lorain. Julian loved to tell jokes, make people laugh, cook, feed everyone, garden, music, Cleveland Indians, and was a great friend to many.
He will be missed by his sons Samuel Rodriguez of Caguas, Octavio (Maria) Rivera of Hermitage, Pennsylvania and Darvin (Kim) Aponte of San Diego, California; daughters Lolita (Bill) Santos of Tampa, Florida, Zenaida (Angel) Torres of Sanford, Florida, Nellie Caraballo of Lorain, Nydia Aponte of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Tammy, Mark, Gina, Zlmaria, Joel, Orlando, Addie Marie, Joel, A'lease, Ala'yvette, Marcus, Darvin and Amber and 16 great-grandchildren.
Julian was preceded in death by his wife Emerita Laboy in 1998; parents Aquilino and Julia (née Flores) Rodriguez; brothers Bacilio, Cesareo, Suceion and Gregorio Rodriguez Flores; sisters Herminia and Lydia Rodriguez Flores and Ramona Estrada.
His family will receive friends Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. Friends may also call Friday from 8:30 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Chapel, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William A. Thaden will be the celebrant. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
