Davina Rae Simo, 72, Loved Life, Her Family and Friends

Photo of Davina Rae Simo Davina Rae “Davey” Simo, 72, of Newton Falls, Ohio died Sunday October 11, 2015 at her home.

She was born September 12, 1943 in Lorain to the late John Joseph Simo Jr and Lois Marie Simo (nee Borthwick).

Davey graduated from Clearview High School and Bowling Green State University. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in library science from the University of Dayton and Franciscan University of Steubenville.

She worked as a Librarian and Multimedia Director at Warren G. Harding High School. After her retirement, she worked for several years at NEOMIN.

Davey was an active participant of several academic programs, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Trumbull Educational Library Media Association and Northeast Ohio English Cocker Spaniel Club. She loved her English Cocker Spaniels. Davina was heavily involved with the Girl Scouts and was in charge of camps in Montana, Massachusetts and Ohio throughout her life. She loved the outdoors and taking photographs while exploring it. Davina loved doing anything she could do to help others preferring no attention be brought to her. She loved life, her family and friends and had an undying will to live.

Left to cherish her memories are her brother Robert Simo of Huron, longtime friend and caregiver Ruth Fowler of Newton Falls and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Julanne Kolesar, her parents, and her grandparents David and Julia Borthwick, whom she was very close to.

The family will receive friends on Saturday October 24th from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Reverend Laurie Miller, Pastor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
