Bob Breznai, 76, U.S. Army Veteran
Bob Breznai, age 76, of Elyria Township, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday October 5, 2015.He was born in Lorain on December 31, 1938 and had been a life-long resident of Elyria Township. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Clearview High School.
Mr. Breznai was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments from 1961 to 1963 with the Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
Bob was employed as a chemical operator for the B.F. Goodrich Corporation of Avon Lake; he retired in 2004 following a career that spanned forty years with the manufacturer.
He was a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and was a member of the United Polish Club of Elyria.
He enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music in his free time and was a member of the Cleveland Polka Association.
Bob displayed a strong mechanical aptitude and had the reputation of being able to fix or repair anything and everything.
He is survived by his daughter Shanna of Elyria Township, and by sisters Rosemary Sadowski (Eugene) of Amherst Township and Joan Baughman (Duane) of Avon. He also leaves six nephews.
Mr. Breznai was preceded in death by his former wife Roberta Punkin Breznai (nee Cajka) on September 14th of this year, and by his parents John and Mary (nee Ballog) Breznai.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria Township. The Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of the parish, will severe as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to either St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
