Richard D. Boone, 58, U.S. Army Veteran
Richard D. “Rick” Boone, 58, of Lorain, died Monday September 22, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.
He was born August 18, 1957 in Amherst and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Rick served with the US Army from 1980 to 1982. He worked as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes for 30 years retiring in 2013.
He was a member of Christian Life Church, American Legion #30 and the American Slovak Club, all in Lorain.
Rick enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, riding his Harley, fishing, cooking and singing Dean Martin songs.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Deborah Boone (nee Zeiter), children Natasha Parker (Mike) of Lorain, Rachelle Boone of Lorain and Richard W. Boone (Caryn) of North Ridgeville, 9 grandchildren, father William R. Boone, sisters Becky and Vicky Boone, half-brothers Bill, Ken & Mike Boone & half-sister Danielle. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Rattigan (nee Paxton) in 2013, brother Greg Boone and grandparents Richard and Josephine Boone.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery, 640 N Ridge Rd, Lorain. The Rev. Wallace Justice, pastor of Christian Life Church in Lorain, will officiate. Military honors will follow.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with expenses.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
