Mafilda Kosanovich, 95, Caring, Loving and Dedicated Person

Photo of Mafilda Kosanovich Mafilda (Mickey) Kosanovich has gone to heaven during a peaceful sleep on September 6.

Mickey recently celebrated her 95th birthday and lead an active life and remained in good health until the time of her death. She was born on July 17, 1920 in Uniontown, PA to Antonia and Dominic DeSantis. Mickey was a lifelong resident of Lorain, OH.

Mickey was a caring, loving and dedicated person with the ability to have those that knew her, love her. She was a dedicated wife, a perfect mother, a storybook grandmother, great grandmother, a wonderful godmother, loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and a great friend to many.

Mickey was involved in a variety of Lorain area clubs and activities. She spent most of her work career managing the Winkleman’s store at Midway Mall. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting and watching sports. She crocheted many beautiful blankets for her family and friends. She was active as social chairman at Parkview Community and featured in a variety of promotions, including full page magazines ads and highway billboards.

She is survived by her loving family: daughters Sharon (Park) Schafer, Ruth (Stephen) Spinosa, son Nick (Donna) Kosanovich, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sisters Eva Costin and Violet Horvath and many nieces and nephews.

Mickey was preceded in death by her husband Rudy Kosanovich, parents Antonia and Dominic DeSantis, siblings Ann Brunotts, Lena Sposato and Pete DeSantis.

Friends may call on Monday September 14 from 6:00 until 8:00pm in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend John C. Retar, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish officiating. She will be laid to rest in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
