Mark M. Yakovich, 63, Avid sportsman

He was born August 13, 1951 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Sheffield Village area resident.
Mark graduated from Brookside High School in 1969 and attended Lorain County Community College. He worked as a machinist at Advanced Design Industries (ADI) in Sheffield Village for over 30 years. Prior to that, he worked as a machinist at US Steel in Lorain.
Mark was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village and the Croatian Club in Lorain where he served as vice president for over 20 years. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, volleyball, wallyball, hunting and skeet shooting. He also enjoyed his pets, playing cards and grilling out.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years Debbie (nee Golan), daughter Jackie (Kevin), granddaughters and brother James Jay. He was preceded in death by his father Matthew A. on April 21, 2015, his mother Helen M. (nee Mraz) in 2000 and an infant brother Michael.
The family will receive friends Monday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1878 Abbe Rd, Sheffield Village. The Rev. Edward Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Teresa Cemetery where Mark will be buried along with the ashes of both his parents Matthew and Helen.
