Margarita Alvarez, 75, Loving Mother, Grandmother & neighbor
Margarita Alvarez (née Munoz), 75, of Lorain passed away early morning Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Anchor Lodge Skilled Nursing Home while under the care of New Life Hospice of St. Joseph following a lengthy illness.
Margarita was born February 21, 1940 in Caguas Puerto Rico, she moved to New York City at the age of 19. On July 1980 she moved to Lorain Ohio and made it her home with her family. Margarita enjoyed keeping her home spotless and was a caring neighbor. She loved to watch "Caso Cerrado" and her Spanish Novelas (soap operas). Margarita attended for several years "Templo Bethel-Cristo Misionera" in Lorain. She loved the company of her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters Rosie Garcia (Raul), of Lorain, Griselle Rodriguez-Lopez (Jose) of Vega Baja Puerto Rico, Yesi Miller (Todd) of Lorain and son Orlando Alvarez of Lorain, 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter all of Lorain.
Margarita was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Leonides Alvarez on January 22, 2015 in Arecibo Puerto Rico, her parents Maria Lopez and Ernesto Munoz, brother Luis Lopez, granddaughter Yamine I. Villegas and cousins Jose Lopez, Lucy Atkinson, Douglas Barreto and aunts.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home 1783 E. 31st Street, South Lorain where funeral services will be on Thursday 9:30 am at the funeral home. Pastor David Woolsey of Faith Lutheran Church, Avon will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
