Margaret S. Potyrala, 90, Known for Wonderful Cooking and Baking

She was born in Lorain on May 16, 1925. Marge had been a resident of Lorain for eighty-seven years and a resident of the Wesleyan Village in Elyria for the past three years.

Mrs. Potyrala was a graduate of Lorain High School; she was formerly employed as a secretary for the U.S. Steel Corporation.

Marge was an active member of Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Sheffield Township. She was a Sunday School superintendant, a catechism teacher, and a participant in the Bible studies group. She was also a member of the Ruth Naomi Ladies Guild as well as the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. In addition, she supported her late husband in many of the activities of Pulaski Post # 38 of the Polish Legion of American Veterans in Lorain.

Marge was especially known for her wonderful cooking and baking. She loved sharing her culinary skills with her nieces and nephews and enjoyed being around her family. Marge and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States – enjoying every trip.

Survivors include her nephew Charles Hobor (Gloria) of Amherst Township and niece Janet (Strezovski) Doak (Tom) of Strongsville and their children, as well as sisters-in-law Rose Strezovski, and Jennie Potyrala. In addition, she leaves her beloved cousin Evelyn Mendgik, her children of Amherst Township, and Daniel Poliak. She also leaves many other nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents Paul and Susan (nee Curni) Strezovski, by her brother Paul Strezovski, and by her sister Mildred Hobor.

Visitation will be Sunday May 31st from 1 until 4 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will take place in Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Boulevard, on Monday June 1st from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Edgar Anthony, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Marge’s family would like to extend their heartfelt wishes to the staff and caregivers of the Wesleyan Village and to Dr. M.K. Eren and his staff for the care that truly increased Marge’s quality of life.
