Avenell M. Callahan, 75, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother
Avenell M. “Nelly” Callahan, age 75, of Lorain, passed away on Monday May 25, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.Nelly was born in West Liberty, Kentucky on May 11, 1940 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1950.
In her free time she enjoyed bowling in leagues hosted by Rebman’s Recreation and Shoreway Lanes. Additional interest included fishing and attending county fairs.
She is survived by her son Michael Callahan (fiancée Anna Falso) of Cleveland, and by daughters Susan Ciupaska (George) of Lorain and Sandra Petrick (Dale) of Venango, Pennsylvania. She also leaves ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Nelly was preceded in death by her sons Victor and Paul.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 until 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
