Anthony Naples, 94, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran

He was born October 4, 1920 in Oliver, PA and had resided in Lorain most of his life.
Tony graduated from Lorain High School and served with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Tony owned and operated City Cigar Store in Lorain for 5 years and City Bar in Lorain from 1952 until retiring in 2002.
He was a member of Spring Valley Country Club in Elyria and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Esther A. Naples (nee Breznenik), son Tony Naples (Melissa), grandchildren Amy Naples Brown (Terry), Natalie Naples, Tony Naples Jr, Randy Abrams (Tricia) and Shari Gillett (Gregg), great grandchildren Olivia & Sara Abrams and Addison Gillett and sisters Mary Francisco and Alice Walker. He was preceded in death by his daughter Betsy Naples in 1983, his parents and 3 siblings.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of funeral services at 9:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Beth McKee, chaplain of Wesleyan Village in Elyria, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
