George D. Lunn, 71, Enjoyed fishing and league bowling

Photo of George D. Lunn George D. “Sonny” Lunn, age 71, of Lorain, passed away on Friday April 3, 2015 following an illness of several months. He was born in Leesville, Louisiana on July 26, 1943 and had been a resident of Lorain since his childhood.

Sonny was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Corporal attached to the 7th Engineer Battalion in Southeast Asia. He held a Rifle Marksman Badge and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with one device, the Vietnam Service Medal with one device, along with the Meritorious Mast. He was a Life member of Amvets Post # 22 in Vermilion.

Mr. Lunn was employed for over thirty years as an electrician at the Ridge Tool Company.

He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain; n his free time he enjoyed fishing and league bowling.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years Judy (nee Williams), along with sons Todd Miller and Scott Lunn (Madonna) both of Lorain along with Jason Lunn (Tiffany) residing in Sheffield Lake. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his sister Nancy Jones of Lorain.

Sonny was preceded in death by his son Chad “Trip” Lunn in 2013, and by his parents George and Evelyn (nee McGuire) Lunn.

Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Jimmy Madsen presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps accompanied by the Vermilion Veterans Council.
