Richard L. Shedron, 83, Was a passionate golfer and avid sports fan

Photo of Richard L. Shedron Richard Lewis Shedron, age 83, of Elyria, Ohio passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

He was born on July 14, 1931 Elyria, to Charles and Laura Shedron. Richard was a 1949 graduate of Elyria High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in the Ceremonial Honor Guard Unit in Washington DC.

Richard was employed for 36 years with Bendix of Elyria and retired in 1990. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish in Lorain. He was a member of the United Polish Club of Elyria and the St. Lad’s Club of Lorain. Richard was a passionate golfer and avid sports fan of his beloved Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State sports teams.

Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor (née Yaneff) Shedron of Elyria; son, Gregory Louis (Michele) Shedron of Coloumbus; daughter, Rebecca Ann (Shedron) Williams of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren: Anastasia Rose Shedron, Alexander Louis Shedron, Taylor Marie Williams and Samantha Elise Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Laura Shedron; brothers Harold (Bud), and Donald; sisters, Geraldine Brosky, and Thelma Harrell, as well as his beloved dog, Lady Rigby.

Dick loved his family and friends. He was a caring, loving and religious man with a heart of gold.

His family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until time of closing prayers at 11:30 AM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Followed by funeral mass at 12:00 PM in Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Dr. (Grove Ave. and Homewood Dr.) Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Private burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.

His family suggests contributions be made in memory of Richard to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
