Felix Vazquez, 72, Played Slow-Pitch Softball

He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on May 26, 1942 and had been a resident of Lorain since the age of thirteen.
Felix was employed as an Orthopedic Technician for more than forty-two years; he had worked at the former St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain Community Hospital, Mercy Regional Medical Center, and, most recently, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Devoted to his family, Felix dedicated the balance of his free time to playing slow-pitch softball at various fields throughout the city. He also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years Maria (nee Torres), sons Felix, Jr. (Miriam), Tomas, and Jacinto (Andrea) all of Lorain, and daughters Teresita (David) Sperry of Sheffield Lake and Margarita (Edwardo) Torres of Lorain. Additional survivors include grandchildren Felechia, Alicia, Luis, Tomas, Jacob, Haley, Mattie, Sydney, Felix, III, Omar, and Ariana, great granddaughter Mia, as well as one sister and two brothers residing in Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tomas and Francisca (nee Lopez) Vazquez and by one brother.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also call in the plaza at Sacred Heart Chapel on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30. Reverend William Thaden, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
