Captain Timothy A. Tillack, 66, Had Love for Boats and Water
Captain Timothy A. Tillack, age 66, of Lorain, passed away Monday March 16th at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness.He was born in Lorain on February 12, 1949 and was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Tim possessed a love for both boats and water and was fortunate to build his career centered on that passion. From 1980 through 1990 he worked in oceanic service as a Chief Engineer for Crowley Maritime. More recently, he served as a Captain on the Great Lakes working for South Shore Dredge and Dock. Simultaneously, he served as the owner-operator of Hobo Marine Towing.
Devoted to his family, Tim was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking; additional interests included building model airplanes and boats with a special focus on tug boat models.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years Joyce (nee Young), sons Michael (Betty Jo) and Matthew Tillack both of Lorain, daughter Jennifer Tillack also of Lorain, and by grandchildren Nicholas, Christopher, Joshua, and Aaron. Additional survivors include his brother Lawerence (Karen) Tillack of Sheffield Village and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by an infant son in 1978, by his parents Claire and Alice (nee Knipper) Tillack, and by brothers James, William, and Thomas.
Visitation will be Saturday March 21st from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4501 Clinton Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Laurie Miller, pastor of the church will officiate.
Memorials contributions are encouraged to either First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Tillack Family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
