Cristina Padua, 94, Was a loving homemaker and mother

Photo of Cristina Padua Cristina Padua (née Ortiz), 94, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in home following a short illness.

She was born July 15, 1921 in Lares, Puerto Rico. Mrs. Padua moved to Lorain in 1974. Cristina attended Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She was a loving homemaker and mother, who enjoyed playing the lottery.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Cecilia Sanchez of Lares, Puerto Rico, Mercedes Padua of Anasco, Puerto Rico, Gloria Mendoza of La Habra, California, Miriam Novales of Palm Bay, Florida, Elba Padua and Carmen Marquez both of Lorain; sons Justo Padua, Luis Padua and Ariel Padua all of Lorain, Confesor Padua, Jr. of Camuy, Puerto Rico and Nelson Padua of Palm Bay, Florida; 37 grandchildren and over 50 great and great great grandchildren.

Cristina was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years Confesor Padua in 2013; daughter Margarita Padua; and her parents Francisco and Manuela (née Perez) Padua.

Her family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 7 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Friends may also call Friday from 8:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
