He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rhoda Gelman, his son Dr. Joel (Cynthia) Gelman of Palos Verdes, CA and his three grandchildren Carrie, Sarah and Daniel Gelman.
Dr. Gelman was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Sarah (nee Kurtzman) Gelman and his sister Anita Knight.
He was born on June 17, 1924 in Cleveland. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1942. He attended Ohio State University and then graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1948. In 1951, he married Rhoda (nee Sniderman) Gelman and they had one child.
Dr. Gelman practiced as a podiatrist in Lorain until he retired in 1990. He was a member of the Lorain Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue, a life member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, B'nai B'rith and Hadassah, a 32 Degree Mason, a Shriner and an US Army veteran.
He moved to Boyton Beach Florida in 1999 and was a member of the Anshe Shalom Synagogue in Delray Beach Florida.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain with Rabbi Lauren Werber, officiating.
Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, Sheffield Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
